Play2Win Bowling Leagues are social and competitive bowling competitions that take place weekly over a number of weeks.

Players put together at team and compete each week to achieve the highest scores over the season and win great prizes. A handicap scoring system ensures that bowlers of different skill levels can compete fairly.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced bowler, Play2Win Bowling leagues are a great way to improve your game, meet new people, and have a fun night out. Support local: bowl in Whanganui!

Where the league takes place

All Play2Win Bowling leagues are held at Play2Win Bowling Whanganui.

This modern bowling venue offers a relaxed environment, a bar with great hot and cold food and drinks, and plenty of opportunities to practice between league nights.

Competitive League

The Play2Win Competitive League in Whanganui is designed for players who enjoy friendly competition and the chance to win prizes.

Competitive League starts 21 April 2026

  • Teams of two bowlers

  • Three games per night

  • $6 per game

  • $2 per game contribution to the prize fund

Total cost: $24 per player for the night

End of Season Prizes

At the end of the league season there are:

  • Cash prizes

  • League trophies

Frequently Asked Questions

  • League starts with a ten minute warmup. You then play one of the other teams each session: so you play a different team each week.

    The session will continue until every team has played their games.

    The first game of the season is to calculate players’ handicaps. So all players will start with an equal chance of winning.

    Leagues do not run during the school holidays.

  • Current competitive league is weekly on Tuesday at Play2Win Bowling in Whanganui. It starts on 21 April. Other nights may be available so email us if you cannot make Tuesday but would like to join a league.

  • The first session is a grading session, and will be used to calculate players’ handicaps. So ALL players will start with an equal chance of winning! Grading games will count towards the final competition scores.

  • No. The handicap system means players of all skill levels can compete.

  • Competitive League winners receive trophies and get their name on the Play2Win League shield. There is also a cash prize.

    Family League winner will receive a trophy, and runners up receive family-relevant prizes.

  • The current competitive league is $6 per game plus a $2 contribution to the prize fund per game. Each league night is three games so the total cost per night is $24.

  • No problem - just email us with your name and contact and let us know what days or times would suit you better. We’ll get back in touch when new leagues are set up. bowling@play2win.co.nz

  • Yes you can buy cold and hot drinks and there is a licensed bar. Snack food and hot food including pizza are also available on-site.

  • The league takes place at Play2Win Bowling upstairs at Play2Win Whanganui,126 St Hill St, Whanganui, New Zealand
